Kim Nayoon, Kim Eungku
On the left is The Lost Crocodile by Kim Nayoon, who is entering her first year of high school. Kim draws inspiration from animal characters such as bears, cats, and crocodiles, turning them into her own heroes and building stories of love and friendship around them. This work depicts a lost crocodile that, while trying to find its way home, ends up wandering onto a rooftop.
The work on the right, In the Sea There Are Crocodiles by student Kim Eung-u, pays homage to Kim Nayoon’s painting but also draws inspiration from the novel of the same title. The book tells the journey of Enai, a refugee boy. The piece symbolically represents the many fears and challenges we encounter in life through images of mountains like barriers, crocodiles, and a murky sea.
