Woojin Son, Jeongmin Lee
On the left is Golden City by 16-year-old artist Son Woojin. With a pure imagination that constructs his own worldview, Son explores themes such as wealth disparity, human attitudes toward life, diversity among people, and the importance of cultural heritage. The golden city, born from the artist’s imagination, flows with symbols reminiscent of coding, representing a critique of materialistic capitalism.
The work on the right, Daylight Forest Village by student Lee Jeongmin, pays homage to Son’s piece. While adopting the same style of expression, it takes an intriguing turn by approaching an opposite theme. Whereas the city within the whale symbolizes material civilization, the village within the shape of a rabbit depicts warmth and nature, creating a contrasting atmosphere to the original. By presenting the dreamlike nighttime city alongside a bright and warm forest village, the artist intended for viewers to experience the contrasting yet complementary charms of both works.
